What’s checked

The Short-Term Rental Inspection checklist asks for photos at each step:

  • On arrival: a photo showing the unit or house number, a quick check for damage or missing items, and before photos of every room.
  • Walk-through: lights, windows, thermostat, doors and locks, and any odors.
  • Kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas: clean surfaces, appliances, fixtures, floors, made beds and set-out towels.
  • Windows and details: interior windows, glass doors, baseboards, door handles, vents and ceiling fans.
  • Final details: supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, coffee and soap are stocked; lights, switches and appliances work; any damage, missing items or maintenance issues are noted.
  • Trash and laundry: trash removed, liners replaced, and used linens and towels gathered.
  • Inventory: a check of the linens and towels left in the unit.
  • Before leaving: keys left where they belong (with a photo), lights off and doors locked.
